Alexandra Tirsu


Violinist Alexandra Tirsu is gaining recognition as one of the leading musicians of her generation. A laureate of the prestigious Osaka and Seoul International Music Competitions, her performances have garnered critical acclaim around the world in publications such as Classical Music Magazine,etc.

Recent highlights include performances in venues such as the Vienna Konzerthaus, ElbPhilharmonie, Hamburg, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Bucharest Athaneum and Beijing Concert Hall, at festivals such as Crans Montana Classics, Norwegian Chamber Music Festival, Cap Ferret Festival and Sion Music Festival. She has collaborated with artists such as Gidon Kremer, Michael Guttman , Jing Zhao, Dmitri Jurowsky, Ivry Gitlis , Uto Ughi, Semyon Bychkov, Igor Kuschnir, Rasha Rizk, Vladimir Landsmann and Svetlana Makarova. An advocate of bringing violin music to wider audiences, she regularly collaborates with the celebrated music-comedy duo Igudesman & Joo.

Alexandra completed her undergraduate in Vienna under the tutelage of Pavel Vernikov. She is currently pursuing her graduate studies in Sion under the tutelage of Janine Jansen. She performs on a Ruggieri violin, kindly on loan from an anonymous supporter.
